Caster hardware is an important part of your wheelchair and unfortunately, it's not maintenance free. Keeping the crud from building up around the caster spacers and bearings is essential for prolonging the life of the casters and/or bearings. Occasionally cleaning out unwanted debris can make a big difference with the performance of the chair and longevity of the parts. It's a good idea to replace these spacers from time to time as a routine hardware maintenance routine.
