Installation: The initial installation may take approximately 15 minutes, after that the FreeWheel clamps on and off in seconds. Footrest Height: If the height of your footrest is over 4-3/4" you may require a custom frame FreeWheel. See additional information below. Footrest Angle: If the angle of your footrest is more than 12% the FreeWheel may not work. Please contact DME Hub for more information. Frame & Fork: Made from strong, aircraft quality aluminum means your FreeWheel comes with a Satisfaction Guarantee. The unique patented design adds strength and means there are no sharp edges to catch on anyone or anything. Clamp: The precisely engineered vise like connection allows you to confidentially attach your FreeWhee for a secure fit and excellent handling. Wheel: The large front wheel has less resistance than small casters and makes it easier to roll on any surface, whether you are alone, or someone is helping you. Detent: This mechanism keeps the front wheel straight to improve stability and handling. By applying slight pressure, it will release, allowing you to quickly and easily turn in any direction. Perch: Attach the included perch onto your crossbar behind your seat back and clamp your FreeWheel onto it when you need to stow it. This allows you to have your FreeWheel literally at your finger tips and also, keeps it out of the way when you don't. Restrictions: The FreeWheel works on solid rigid-frame footrests that are a maximum of 4-3/4" off the ground. If your footrest is "angled" (footrest higher in front than in the back) it must be angled no more than 12 degrees for the FreeWheel to clamp securely to your chair.

    Bought this so my husband could go with me on strolls around the neighborhood. The front casters on his Tilite chair were always getting hung up on sidewalk cracks. With the Freewheel, it is smooth sailing. Works better than we hoped!

    Great Idea but Way too Expensive

    This product is a great idea but some thing you should know. Using the wheel adds a lot of resistance when turning. The product is way over priced. I'm taking, a hundred dollar product you're paying six for, and lastly, when the wheel is attached, you are placed in a reclining position. It's not real bad; however, if your chair is already tippy, it's something you want to be aware of.

    Helpful for wheelchair living

    I would love to give this a 5 star because it really is an amazing tool for anyone in a wheelchair. The reason for the 4 star is price and the fact that when my son receives a new chair in the future, it may not work with the height of his floor plate (if it is no longer 8 inches off ground). As a parent of special needs child and the endless medical expense, it’s disappointing to think we would have to buy a new one, verses having years of use. I do appreciate that I was able to get it on sale off on dmehub which helped us afford this for our son. Thank you for helping people with limitations have an ease to mobility. Makes gravel and grass so much easier.

    I simply would not live without having my Freewheel. I do everything you "shouldn't" do in a chair. I jump stairs, big drops, always on 2 wheels not four etc.. etc... but getting the free wheel was a life changer. So many places I could never go. Now I could truly go off road and finally go on a wooded trail with my family. When no longer needed, just hang it off the back seat rail (out of the way).
